WARTS (common or vulgar, plantar warts) are benign skin growths similar to rounded elevations on the skin resulting from infection with the human papillomavirus (see PAPILLOMAS).

Warts occur on the human body due to infection with a type of papilloma virus transmitted through contact: shaking hands, walking barefoot in public areas, swimming in the pool, using a shared shower, as well as using common household items. The incubation period of a wart ranges from 5-6 weeks to 5-6 months. Warts can be from 1 mm to 15 mm in size, it depends on their place of formation and type. Warts can form large hemispherical or conical tumors. Their color changes over time. At first, the color of the warts matches the color of the skin, then they turn brown, less often black.
